Stepping Up Productions was founded by neurodiverse actor and writer, Owen Lawrence in 2022 as a way to take creative control over his career. Stepping Up Productions is an independent TV&Film company looking to make exciting, impactful and entertaining TV and film. Both scripted and unscripted.
From dark thrillers to ridiculously funny comedies, we cover everything. All walks of life. Shows aimed at young adults and shows aimed at a mature audience. Because we believe all stories matter and they are ‘stories worth telling’.

Meet Our Team
Owen Lawrence is a mixed ethnicity, neurodiverse actor and writer with a Bachelors Degree in Drama.
Owen was raised and educated by women, which explains why he predominantly writes female driven shows.
Owen studies TV and story like there’s no tomorrow, often up until 3am. You’ll often find him watching interviews/listening to podcasts with producers, commissioners, writers and actors. He could probably recite every interview Nicola Shindler has done on being a producer.
Owen’s writing style is characterised by character-driven storytelling that tackles important themes and issues and travels across multiple genres. Owen uses characters to convey his message and make his audience think.
In addition to his writing and producing, he is also an accomplished actor, bringing his talent and skill to a variety of roles on stage and screen. Owen’s background in drama gives him a deep understanding of character and motivation, which shines through in his writing and performances.
With his diverse talents and unique perspective, Owen is a true creative force to be reckoned with, and his work has the power to entertain, inspire, and provoke thought.
Owen’s inspirations in the producing/writing world include: Nicola Shindler, Sally Wainwright, Russell T Davies, Sharon Horgan, Kay Mellor, Julie Gardner, Shonda Rhimes and more.
